Honoring Our Heroes: Veterans Day Celebration at W.T. Sampson Unit School
W.T. Sampson Unit School recently celebrated Veterans Day with a heartfelt event that brought together students, faculty, family, and members of the military, to honor the veterans in our community. The ceremony featured a joint Color Guard from Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay, and the Marine Corps Security Force Company, who presented the Colors in a solemn and respectful posting.
The event highlighted the talents and patriotism of students from Pre-K through 5th grade, who performed a variety of tributes. The program included the Pledge of Allegiance, the Preamble to the Constitution, and a special Veterans Day song titled “Because of You.” Students also recited Veterans Day poems, sang “Grand Old Flag,” and shared a Medal of Honor presentation to pay tribute to service members who have made a difference for the United States of America. Additionally, they expressed their gratitude through student-written “thank you” letters, celebrating the patriotic heritage and heroes of America.
The celebration was a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by our veterans and the importance of honoring their service. As we reflect on Veterans Day, let us continue to support and appreciate our veterans every day.
