W.T. Sampson Unit School teachers are amazing! The elementary teachers won most creative at the MWR GTMO Trunk or Treat.  Congratulations to our teachers!  When asked about their participation in the event, the teachers has much to say.

Why did we want to participate?  This is the second year that the elementary team entered the Guantanamo Bay MWR Trunk or Treat.  It is such a great community event!!  So many people, Commands, families and community members participate. The best part is seeing all the kids come dressed up and how excited they all are.

What was our inspiration for the theme?  Ms. Moreno gets all the credit for coming up with the idea and sharing the pictures for us to work off of.  “The Sandlot” is such a classic, good movie, with some of the most iconic movie lines ever and teaches many great lessons…honesty, friendship, community, integrity. It was fun to see the reaction of the kids and adults who love it too!

We love WT Sampson and GTMO - FOR - EV- ER!

Ms. Quill said, “I loved how we all added different elements and pieces to it and how it all came together! Events like this are truly what make GTMO amazing!”

Ms. Austin said, “Halloween is a time for both kids and adults to magically become anything that they want to be. It brought joy to my heart to see the happiness all over everyone’s faces in our community.”

Mrs. Knopf said, “I think it’s so important to build relationships between the school and the community we serve, plus I loved seeing all of the kids dressed up!”

Ms. Piansay said, “Serving the community in different ways helps our students grow in so many ways. Getting to interact with the students and their families, as well as the different Commands and participants was an awesome way to celebrate Halloween and the fall season! Plus… I love the WTS Elementary Team!”

Ms. Schonacher said, “Trunk or Treat was just as fun for us as it was for the kids. We collaborated and worked as a team to make Ms. Moreno’s Sandlot vision come to life. It was an enjoyable evening for all!”

Ms. Moreno said, “This being my first GTMO Trunk or Treat experience was so much fun and amazing. We were able to work together as a team to make this come to life. I truly love being able to see all the families and community of GTMO come out for a fun event and enjoy the Halloween spirit.”

Thank you to our teachers for doing an amazing job for our students!
