What happens when you mix driving rules, creativity, and a little bit of mischief? A Spanish project that had students laughing, learning, and showing off their language skills!

In a recent Spanish 3 project, students imagined they had failed the toughest driving test in town. Frustrated, they decided to rewrite the rulebook—but with completely ridiculous and over-the-top driving “rules.” Their task? If they could not pass their (imaginary) driving test, no one else should either! So, to create a fake driving manual filled with absurd and hilarious rules, all in Spanish using correct grammar and vocabulary.

This project was not just about being funny (though there was plenty of that!). It tied together everything we have been learning in class, from commands to driving vocabulary and giving directions. Students had to think critically, use proper Spanish, and be as creative as possible.

The results? Absolutely hysterical—but also impressive! From "always drive in reverse for maximum efficiency" to "drive with your eyes closed for a surprise adventure," these manuals had the me cracking up. The best part? Students did not even have to present them, but they wanted to! They were so proud of their work that they volunteered to share, proving just how engaging and fun language learning can be.

One student even went the extra mile—literally! She created a Minecraft video showing her “rules” in action. It was incredible! Watching her navigate the world (while following her own disastrous rules) took this project to another level.

I could not be prouder of the creativity, humor, and effort these students put into their work. At the end of the day, this project was all about building confidence in Spanish, having fun with learning, and seeing how language connects to real-world situations.

Learning a language does not have to be boring—it can be an adventure! If you are not already taking Spanish, you should sign up next year!
