Multi-Grade Learning
At W.T. Sampson School, learning transcends grade levels as 4th graders and AP Seminar students team up to develop research topics. This cross-grade partnership offers a unique opportunity for both groups to explore essential skills, such as identifying credible sources, evaluating information, and organizing ideas, skills that apply not only across grade levels but throughout life.
For the high schoolers, this collaboration is a reminder that even advanced research skills are rooted in what they first learned in elementary school. Meanwhile, 4th graders discover that these skills extend far beyond 4th grade, forming a foundation they will build upon in middle school, high school, college, and beyond.
This collaboration highlights that learning is a continuum, with each stage building on the last. As 4th graders gain confidence and high school students reflect on their journey, they learn that research and inquiry are not merely academic tasks but skills that support lifelong curiosity and understanding.
