For high school students: an optional free summer AP US History class:

To help students prepare for AP US History and US History classes and to add a credential to their "brag sheets" highlighting their accomplishments in high school for use in future college, scholarship, and employment applications, high school students can sign up and attend The Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History's AP US History: Hidden Figures summer "class:"

This course will discuss the content covered in AP US History (APUSH) by highlighting the “hidden figures” of APUSH. These are lesser-known people who played a significant role in American history. Each class will be dedicated to uncovering individuals from two or three of the nine periods of APUSH and discussing skills necessary to excel in both the course and exam.

It is open to all high school students and is available free of charge.  The class will be led by a History Teacher of the Year-winning educator and consists of 6 one-hour-long classes held weekly via Zoom and can be viewed using a Smartphone is computer if access is not available.  There are no assignments required, and students can earn the Certificate of Completion by attending 5 of the 6 hour-long classes.  Sign up is required by 27 June 2025, and the first class begins at 1700 ET on 30 June 2025.
