Homemade Tomato Sauce Takes Center Stage

Family & Consumer Science students showcased their culinary skills this week by preparing a delicious homemade tomato sauce. As part of their curriculum, students are learning to master the basics of soups, sauces, and gravies. The tomato sauce was meticulously evaluated on appearance, consistency, and flavor, ensuring that each student had the opportunity to refine their technique.

Principal Arizmendi praised the students' efforts, stating, "Perfect texture with a 'hint' of spice to boost flavor." The sauce's balance of flavors and textures impressed many, highlighting the students' growing expertise in the kitchen.

G. Poole, another evaluator, shared their thoughts: "I liked the spiciness. I would have preferred smaller chunks of tomato and a tad more salt. Overall, it was tasty." This feedback will undoubtedly help students fine-tune their recipes and enhance their culinary creations.

In addition to the culinary aspects, students were also assessed on safety and sanitation, teamwork, and clean-up. These essential skills are crucial for any aspiring chef and ensure a well-rounded education in food preparation.

The Family & Consumer Science program continues to provide students with valuable hands-on experience. Keep an eye out for more delicious creations from these talented students!
