Exploratory Spanish

My 6th graders doing some math in Exploratory…they played the role of constituents in Hongellandia doing the 2025 census! They had to figure out the number of people from Spanish-speaking countries living in the US, and then figure out what percentage of the overall population that is. Then they had to collaboratively create a bar graph…
Step 1 - I gave them the X-axis… organized the countries by alpha.
Step 2 - based on the data, the students had to figure out their range for the Y axis…least population to highest population.
Step 3 - figure out how to scale the range.
Step 4 - fill in the bar graph! 📊 Through collaboration, problem-solving, and a little friendly debate, my 6th graders became census experts and math wizards all in one.
Watching them bring data to life with bar graphs was so cool. I couldn't be prouder of their teamwork. The future of statistics is in good hands!
