Academic Award Ceremony January 24, 2025

The W.T. Sampson Unit School academic award ceremony for middle and high school students who earned a GPA of 3.0 and above. was held today. Awards for math, art, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) were also given to students. Parents were invited to come and watch their students receive awards.  Principal Arizmendi and Naval Station Guantanamo Bay Captain Stephen spoke to open the ceremony.

Math Teachers, Ms. Angelica Sanders-Moline and Ms. Zanoria Echols awarded students for their commitment to achieving in math. Students in math levels from seventh-grade math through Algebra 2 received awards.

Art and Family and Consumer Science (FACS) teacher, Mrs. Sherri Thomas, awarded students for achievement in art and in FACS. They were awarded for their dedication and efforts in these subject areas.

Mr. Mayer from the VFW gave awards to students who competed in the Voice of Democracy (high school) and the Patriot’s Pen (middle school) youth competitions.  In addition to students receiving awards, teacher Ms. Michelle Davis received recognition for her efforts to support students in competing in the competition. W.T. Sampson Unit School had one of the highest participation rates in the VFW district in which we compete.
