Students are creating websites in Mrs. Quill’s fourth-grade class. The idea is for students to create a website that acts as an e-portfolio where students can track their academic and personal progress.  The home page contains a link to slides that provide information about the student.  This week students worked on smart goals so they will have a page on their website that shows their smart goals.  Students will be able to track progress using the website.

When Mrs. Quill was asked about what motivated her to have the students create the website she stated, “She was seeking a way for to increase student engagement and also student investment with their smart goals.”  She then reached out to school educational technologist, Kelly Treat-Liciaga to help teach the students to learn how to create their own websites.

When asked what she likes about building her own website, Student Olivea James says that she likes putting pictures on her website and that it will help her to remember what she needs to do to finish her goals.

Kendrick Milbrook stated that he likes that he can put cool pictures on his website and that he can create a logo with a link on his website.

This is a wonderful way to increase student engagement and also foster 21st-century skills.  We cannot wait to see the finished products!  Well done Mrs. Quill and fourth grade!
